Hyundai Santa Cruz

A Hyundai pickup truck doesn’t sound very appealing right off the bat, but the Santa Cruz is a surprisingly cool concept.

The Santa Cruz isn’t a traditional pickup, but rather a cross between a pickup and a car. Hyundai sought to create the best of both worlds by offering truck-like utility and styling, with car-like comfort and fuel economy.

Unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the Santa Cruz features a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 190 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, paired with Hyundai’s HTRAC all-wheel drive system.

The Santa Cruz hasn’t been confirmed for production yet, but if it ever gets built, it will further blur the line between cars and trucks.

FERRARI F12BERLINETTA

FERRARI F12BERLINETTA

Top Speed: 211 mph
The Ferrari F12berlinetta was created as the successor to the classic 599 GTB Ferrari Fiorano. The F12berlinetta is equipped with a 6.3 liter V-12 engine, producing 730 Horsepower with 509 lb-ft of torque. All that power allows it to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds. The seven-speed dual clutch is similar to the kind found in race cars and the shifts are smooth and precise. The top speed of the F12berlinetta is 211 mph. The suspension and steering are perfectly tuned, as to be expected of a Ferrari vehicle. This car delivers precision handling like that of a formula one vehicle, giving you a racing feel when you really get on the gas. The vehicle looks just as good as it drives, with beautiful curves and body lines that will turn heads when this beast races past.

VOLKSWAGEN JETTA

In 1979, German manufacturer Volkswagen produced another great family car: Jetta. It was made to replace the Golf sedan.  As of 2005, almost 7 million cars have been sold worldwide, over one-third of sales have been in the United States. Since the original version in 1980, the car has continued to improve with better safety features and making use of new technology. In 2011, nearly 10 million have been produced and sold all over the world. As of April 2014, over 14 million have been sold, which made this model Europe’s and Volkswagen’s top-selling model.

1969 ZL1 CAMARO

1969 ZL1 CAMARO

Current value: $425,000
The 1969 ZL1 Camaro is a truly amazing vintage car that saw a very limited production run of only 69 automobiles during its production life. The car is powered by an extremely powered aluminum V-8 engine that is rated at over 500 horsepower and only weighs in at 500 lbs. The zero to 60 second time of the ZL1 is only 5.3 seconds which put it in the top of all muscle cars of its time for speed, and was a primary reason that many of the car models found their way into the drag-racing circuit. Chevy also went to great lengths to ensure the car was legal to drive on public roadways in the United States; however, the big price for the car at the time did not make it a significant commercial success in the marketplace.

Aston Martin DBX Concept surprises at Geneva

Providing a bit of drama beyond the introduction of the Aston Martin Vulcan supercar, the British automaker surprised the crowd by having a second, unannounced concept on hand, the DBX, a crossover SUV coupe.  The vehicle was commissioned by new CEO Andy Palmer when he took over Aston Martin last October

The 4-passenger 2-door coupe with the stance and ride height of an SUV also breaks with Aston Martin convention in that it is an all-wheel drive electric. According to Palmer, he charged his design and engineering staff to think out of the box

The DBX Concept is a challenge to the existing status quo in the high luxury GT segment, Palmer said. It envisages a world when luxury GT travel is not only stylish and luxurious but also more practical, more family-friendly and more environmentally responsible. I asked my team at Aston Martin to expand their thinking beyond conventions, to explore what the future of luxury GT motoring would look like in years ahead, and the DBX Concept you see before you is the result

Traditional grille, futuristic package

Beyond the trademark Aston grille, the DBX use of materials represents the company's forward thinking in the use of lightweight aluminum. The concept's exterior bright work is made from machined billet with visible milling lines in a piece of craftsmanship intended to be seen as jewelry. The DBX Concept's unique paint finish - Black Pearl Chromium - has been specially created to mimic the look of a genuine black pearl, and comprises a micro-fine layer of chrome to deliver a level of reflectivity that cannot be obtained through normal paint finishes

Inside, designers deliberately chose to use non-automotive materials to create a soft, cocoon-like cabin. This includes extensive application of velvet-like Nubuck leather, which contrasts with the concept's hard, hi-tech equipment. The exposed leather reveals a sandwiched accent layer, more akin to high-end furniture, while the car's interior bright accents mimic that of the exterior with the addition of a gold 'pin striping' element on the edging

In addition to space for four, the DBX also boasts plenty of cargo space thanks to the use of an electric power train that frees up space both beneath the front hood and in the rear

The DBX Concept is more than a thought starter for us and for our customers, though, Palmer explained. We will, in due course, be entering a car into the new DBX space and I am very much looking forward to seeing how this concept is received not only here today, but also by our legion of existing loyal customers and by those potential customers around the world who have, to this point, yet to consider one of our cars

FERRARI ENZO

FERRARI ENZO

Top Speed: 218 mph
Named after the founder of the company, the Ferrari Enzo is one of the most coveted Ferraris ever made. This gorgeous hypercar was equipped with a 660 horsepower V12 engine that generated 657 lb-ft of torque. The top speed of the Enzo was 218 mph and it was able to reach 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The Enzo was equipped with an  independent four wheel suspension with actuated shock absorbers, which are adjusted right inside the cabin, and front and rear anti-roll bars. The body was made out of carbon fiber to reduce weight. Only 399 of these amazing cars were built, making them highly sought after. Due to their limited numbers, each time an Enzo crashes the value of all the other Enzos increases, pushing the price upwards of 1 million dollars.

MCLAREN F1

MCLAREN F1

Arguably, no road car is more commonly linked to Formula 1 than the legendary –and appropriately named –McLaren F1. Unleashed back in 1992, the F1 was an immediate sensation. Faster, more expensive and more high-tech than anything that came from the company before, the car set the standard for uncompromising, wildly expensive performance machines. Contemporary “hyper cars” — such as the Ferrari LaFerrari, Koenigsegg Agera and Bugatti Veyron — all follow the mold established by McLaren F1. Nearly every significant aspect of the car – from its carbon-fiber monocoque chassis to its 6.1-liter V-12 engine to its unique center-mounted seating position – was directly developed from the British company’s F1 racing program.

NEW SKODA Superb From £19,785

Exterior

The Superb has always been a rational purchase, a car bought with your head, not your heart. This model, though, is a classy, desirable flagship for Skoda's range. It's a really sharp-looking car.

Interior

Bigger is definitely better in the Superb. You can really feel the difference made by the increase in width and height in the cabin: this is as spacious as family cars get.

Running costs

For what is an undeniably vast car, the Superb's running costs should be fairly reasonable. The 2.0-litre TDI 150 for example, produces just 108g/km. The latest Passat is a tad cleaner, due to being smaller in size, and the Ford Mondeo is cleaner and a bit cheaper (in Zetec trim), but there is no doubt the Superb represents great value. A Greenline model with emissions below 100g/km will be launched soon, for those who really do need to keep their tax bills as low as possible. Servicing, insurance and PCP loan costs should all be highly competitive, but the Passat is likely to command slightly better resale values – but spec-for-spec, the Superb is slightly cheaper, which should even things out.

Performance

A wide selection of engines means there is usually something for everyone, and the Skoda Superb certainly gives buyers plenty of options to choose from. However, despite a range of refined petrols, including a 1.4 with 148bhp and cylinder shut-off technology to reduce CO2 emissions, the vast majority of buyers are likely to pick one of the three diesels. There’s a 1.6 with 118bhp, and a 2.0-litre with either 148- or 187bhp. We tried both the 2.0-litre models, and although there’s not a big difference in performance (both have a decent spread of torque available across most of the rev range) the lesser version feels a tad more refined at speed. The manual 'box positive, action, and the clutch is light enough to make precise changes. The petrol model needs working harder to make quicker progress, but it’s great for pootling around town, and really smooth and flexible, even when you do push it.

If choosing to upgrade to the W12, the overall price of the A8 will go up significantly, but the boost in power is second-to-none on the market today. The A8’s fuel efficiency rating is 24 MPG (city) and 36 MPG (highway), and the auto can go from zero to 60 MPH in 6.4 seconds with a top overall speed of 129 MPH.

New Rolls-Royce Phantom revealed

Rolls-Royce Phantom features

Looking at these pictures, it might take a few minutes to realise that this is indeed a new-generation Phantom. But while very little has changed in its exterior design, this Phantom sits on an all-new platform designed to make it even more quiet and comfortable to drive – or be driven in – than the old car. Small design changes include a grille that now sits within the bodywork rather than in front of it and a sleeker look at the rear that is said to be inspired by yachts.
This new Phantom is marginally higher and wider than the old car, with slightly less space between its front and rear axles. Despite that, interior space is mostly unchanged, although there is slightly more head room on offer. Boot space has increased slightly, too. As before, a long-wheelbase version of the Phantom will also be offered, and this is likely to be especially popular in Far East markets, where Rolls-Royce exports a lot of cars.

Rolls-Royce Phantom engine

The only engine on offer in the new Phantom is a thirsty 6.8-litre V12 petrol – not that high running costs are likely to trouble any prospective owners. Power has increased to 563bhp, but more significant is that its full pulling power is available from just 1000rpm, which is likely to prove useful in getting the 2625kg Phantom up to motorway speeds. Indeed, the new car is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in 5.3sec, and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. An eight-speed automatic gearbox is standard.
The new Phantom's engine returns a claimed 20.3mpg combined, with CO2 emissions of 318g/km.
