2016 FORD GT

2016 FORD GT

The Ford GT was first produced for the 2005 through 2006 model years. While they were nice looking vehicles, they pale in comparison to the new 2016 concept version. This bad boy, dubbed a hypercar, looks amazing. The full carbon fiber body panels are accented with deep air ducts and diffusers, giving the GT a unique and aggressive look. The GT looks like a futuristic vehicle James Bond would drive. The GT features active aerodynamics: a multi-position wing, pushrod-actuated damping, and adjustable ride height. All this plus a 3.5 liter V-6 producing 600 horsepower and an estimated 500 lb-ft of torque. The design of the GT should serve as inspiration for other supercar builders to up their game.

ALFA ROMEO 8C COMPETIZIONE

ALFA ROMEO 8C COMPETIZIONE

Produced by Alfa Romeo, the 8C Competizione is a limited production sports car styled after the Alfa Romeo cars of the 50’s and 60’s. The 8C Competizione has an elongated nose similar to cars of the 50’s, with sleek body lines and curves of more modern day sports cars. Of the 1500 orders made for the Competizione when it was announced, only 500 were fulfilled to keep the vehicle rare. The engine is built on a modified Maserati platform. The V-8 under the hood produces 444 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, The Competizione is able to reach 60 mph in 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 181 mph. The Competizione was also sold in as a convertible with the “Spider” designation.

CADILLAC CTS-V WAGON

CADILLAC CTS-V WAGON

The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon took all the power and performance of the Cadillac CTS-V and put it into a sleek crossover body. Body lines and curves in all the right places, and the aggressive CTS-V grille make the CTS-V Wagon one of the best looking crossovers ever built. The CTS-V Wagon was only produced for a few years; between 2011 and 2014. The Wagon had ample interior space, able to haul kids or anything else you could manage to fit through the hatch or strap to the roof. The 556 horsepower supercharged V-8 under the hood will put to shame most any stoplight warrior who tries to race you, and the expertly tuned suspension can handle corners like a champion.

BMW I8

BMW I8

The BMW i8 looks as though it drove off the set of a Sci-Fi film. Swan wing doors, a shark nose grille, carbon fiber sills, and lighted accents that glow at night cause the i8 to grab attention anywhere it goes. The i8 is more than just a gorgeous supercar, it’s also a plug-in hybrid. Under the hood is a turbocharged three-cylinder engine teamed with two electric motors for a combined 357 horsepower. Able to get to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and with a top speed of 155 mph, the i8 is as powerful as it is attractive. Fuel economy is less than 30 mpg, but in traffic the electric motors take over to conserve fuel. The i8 has a great synergy between electric and gas modes, so you can open her up when the roads are clear and save precious fuel when you’re forced to go slow.

JAGUAR F-TYPE R

JAGUAR F-TYPE R

The F-Type R is not only a gorgeous piece of machinery, it’s also Jaguar’s most powerful and athletic vehicle. The exterior has subtle body lines and curves, that accent the sleek, rounded body. Rather than giving it an eye-popping look, Jaguar went for a sophisticated feel. Under the hood the F-type R houses a 550 horsepower supercharged 5.0 liter V-8, that’s capable of reaching 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 188 mph. This brute does more than just go fast, the finely tuned suspension and brake-based torque-vectoring system gives the F-Type R amazing handling; able to navigate winding country roads without breaking a sweat, and powering around corners with ease.
