SALEEN S7 TWIN-TURBO

SALEEN S7 TWIN-TURBO

Top Speed: 248 mph
Built by the Saleen Company, who are known for their specialized tunes of American muscle cars, the Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo a custom creation. Under the hood is a twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. The transmission is a six-speed manual, uncommon for a hypercar, as the usually utilize paddle shifters. Amazingly, this is still a clean engine, featuring an extensive emission control system and is compliant to OBD-II standards. In order to improve aerodynamics, modified front fenders, as well as new diffusers and spoilers were installed. This resulted in a 40 percent decrease in drag and a 60 percent increase in down force. The top speed of the S7 is 248 mph and the zero to sixty time clocks in at 2.8 seconds.

KOENIGSEGG CCX

KOENIGSEGG CCX

Top Speed: 245 mph
The Koenigsegg CCX in essence is an updated version of the successful CC/CCR models. The CCX, which first appeared during the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, is so named because this is an acronym that stands for Competition Coupe X, with the X marking the 10 years since the first CC car was developed in 1996. the aerodynamically contoured CCX is constructed out of carbon fiber and Kevlar. This structure contributes to its light curb weight. The engine on this sweet ride is a V8 similar to the modular Ford engines used in the CCR that produces 806 horsepower and 693 lb-ft of torque. The top speed of the CCX is 245 mph, while the zero to sixty time is listed at 3.2 seconds.

PAGANI HUAYRA

PAGANI HUAYRA

Top Speed: 230 mph
The Pagani Huayra is a 720 horsepower, mid-engined, million dollar supercar. The 6 liter twin-turbo V-12 engine gets the Pagani Huayra to a top speed of 230 mph. The Huayra is almost a jet fighter on wheels, the vehicle has motorized body surfaces that constantly lift and tuck like an F-16’s flaperons with the goal of reducing body roll and stopping distances. Above 50 mph, all four lift 10 degrees to increase downforce. When the driver turns the wheel, the flaps on the inboard side rise to 20 degrees to counteract body roll. Under braking, all four lift to 40 degrees to act as air brakes. The cockpit looks like something from a spaceship, with bionic-Bauhaus sculptures in cut aluminium adorning the dash. All these features make the Huayra one of the most unique vehicles on this list.

NOBLE M600

 NOBLE M600

Top Speed: 225 mph
The Noble M600 is a handbuilt British supercar made by Noble Automotive in Leicestershire. The M600 engine uses a Yamaha-derived Volvo B8444S V8 engine which is also used in the Volvo XC90 and S80, but with twin Garrett turbochargers equipped with variable boost. This allows the user to choose from 450 horsepower (Road setting), 550 horsepower (Track setting), and 650 horsepower (Race setting), through the use of a switch in the interior. The Noble M600 can reach a top speed of 225 mph, can run zero to sixty in 3 seconds flat, and can hit 100 mph in 6.5 seconds. The brakes, while servo assisted, are “barely” assisted and don’t have ABS, making it very easy for an inexperienced driver to lock the wheels and possibly crash.

GUMPERT APOLLO

GUMPERT APOLLO

Top Speed: 225 mph
Roland Gumpert, an engineer who played a major role in Audi’s motorsport campaigns, envisioned creating a car that is so aerodynamically efficiently that it could drive on the roof of a tunnel. In 2006 he released the Gumpert Apollo and claimed that it could do just that. The Apollo is optimized so that if it reaches over 190 mph it could drive upside down in a tunnel, although it hasn’t ever been tested. The engine that powers this beast is a 4.2 liter V8 sourced from Audi. Armed with fuel injection, dry sump lubrication, and 2 turbochargers, it is capable of producing 640 horsepower. The top recorded speed of the Apollo is 225 mph and zero to sixty time is listed at 3.0 seconds flat.
