FERRARI F12BERLINETTA

FERRARI F12BERLINETTA

Top Speed: 211 mph
The Ferrari F12berlinetta was created as the successor to the classic 599 GTB Ferrari Fiorano. The F12berlinetta is equipped with a 6.3 liter V-12 engine, producing 730 Horsepower with 509 lb-ft of torque. All that power allows it to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds. The seven-speed dual clutch is similar to the kind found in race cars and the shifts are smooth and precise. The top speed of the F12berlinetta is 211 mph. The suspension and steering are perfectly tuned, as to be expected of a Ferrari vehicle. This car delivers precision handling like that of a formula one vehicle, giving you a racing feel when you really get on the gas. The vehicle looks just as good as it drives, with beautiful curves and body lines that will turn heads when this beast races past.

DODGE VIPER GTS

DODGE VIPER GTS

Between 1998 and 2002 Dodge sold a heavily modified Performance Viper with the GTS badge. Modifications included a reworked engine with higher power and less weight, an almost completely redesigned chassis that was made 60 lb (27 kg) lighter and 25% stiffer in torsional rigidity, a redesigned suspension, and reduced braking distances. Top speed of the Viper GTS was 185 mph and zero to sixty time was 4.0 seconds. The Engine had a power output of 450 horsepower. The only negative aspect of the Viper GTS was the lack of ABS brakes. Without ABS the stopping distance of the Viper GTS was considerably longer than all other cars in it’s class. In every other aspect the Viper GTS proved superior to it’s competition. In 2002, the last year of the Viper GTS, ABS was finally introduced to the vehicle.

BRICKLIN SV-1

BRICKLIN SV-1

Top speed: 118 MPH
The Bricklin SV-1 is one of the better-known sports cars sold that feature gull wing doors. The auto only saw a limited production run between 1974 and 1976, and was conceptually designed by Herb Grasse working for Malcolm Bricklin who had founded Subaru of America prior to this timeframe. The company was not able to produce the auto quickly enough to sustain a profit, and as a result, only 2,854 were produced. The SV-1 was originally intended to be a safer sports car with an economical price. Of all of the cars with gull wing doors, it is the only auto to include factory powered ones. The additional weight of the safety features added to the SV-1 resulted in a significant amount of weight being added to the vehicle that has a negative impact on its overall performance. The early models are powered by a AMC 360 V-8 with later ones shifting to the Ford Windsor V-8. The early models of the auto included a four-speed manual transmission, while all of the cars produced in 1975 and 1976 only included an automatic transmission.

DELOREAN DMC-12

DELOREAN DMC-12

Top speed: 88 MPH
The DeLorean DMC-12 is one of the most popular cars that have gull wing doors in the world. The auto was produced and sold on the American car market from 1981 through 1983, and it also featured a fiberglass underbody structure and chassis along with a stainless steel auto body. The car was featured in all three of the Back to the Future movies, and the first prototype of the vehicle was first unveiled in 1976. There are still more than 5,000 of the models still in existence today, and although the car could go to 88 MPH in the movies, the stock speedometer on the auto is limited to a maximum reading of 75 MPH.

PORSCHE 959

PORSCHE 959

Top Speed: 197 mph
Zero to Sixty: 3.7 seconds
While it was only manufactured from 1986 to 1989, the Porsche 959 still holds the title as one of the fastest built six-cylinder vehicles. When it was introduced it was touted as “the world’s fastest street-legal production car,” with a top speed of 197 mph and a zero to sixty time of 3.7 seconds. The Porsche 959 was hailed as the most technologically advanced road sports car ever built, and paved the way for many of today’s modern supercars. One of the first all-wheel drive high performance cars ever built, the Porsche 959 convinced Porsche executives to make all-wheel drive standard on all 911 turbos. The Porsche 959 houses a 2.8 liter twin-turbo flat six engine under its hood, an engine that wouldn’t be matched for some time.

AURORA SAFETY CAR

AURORA SAFETY CAR

The Aurora Safety Car was created wholly with its appearance being of no importance, and it shows. Created by Catholic priest, Alfredo Juliano, the car was created with the idea of significantly improving safety for both the auto’s passengers and pedestrians walking around. The car was one of the first to include seat belts, roll over bars that were built into the dome roof, foam filled bumpers that were mounted on gas shocks. One of the strangest features of the car is the rounded windscreen which were intended to help eliminate the need for windshield wipers. The Aurora Safety Car is widely considered by many to be the ugliest or one of the ugliest cars of all time.

MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION VII

MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION VII

Seen in the second film 2 Fast 2 Furious, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII was used by Brian O’Conner for his undercover mission to take down drug lord Carter Verone. Turbo charged with all wheel drive, the Lancer easily handles corners at speeds that would cause most cars to crash, allowing O’Conner to win an audition street race set up by Verone to choose the drivers he will use for his money laundering operation. Only used for part of the movie, this is one of the few cars driven by a protagonist that remains undamaged during its time on screen. Due to the GPS monitoring system integrated into the electronics of the car, O’Conner ended up ditching the vehicle for a ride that wasn’t as easy to track.

5TH GENERATION HONDA CIVIC

5TH GENERATION HONDA CIVIC

While only used in the first film and only for a small portion of the film, the modified 5th-gen Honda Civics are definitely among the most memorable in the series. Turbo charged and lowered to the ground with green underbody lights, these cars started it all. Used during the heists of tractor trailer trucks by Dom and his crew, these cars started a long history of crazy stunts seen in these films. While some may forget parts of the first film, everyone remembers the Civics driving underneath the trailers on the highway or the passengers climbing out of the sunroof to fire a harpoon gun through the windshield of the tractor in order to climb into and then take over the truck

JAGUAR XKR SILVERSTONE

JAGUAR XKR SILVERSTONE

Jaguar introduced the all-new XK8 for the 1998 model year. It replaced the beautiful and iconic — though outdated — XJ-S. In comparison, the XK8 was a modern two-seat grand tourer, both in terms of looks and technology. XKR was the high-performance variant. It featured a beefed-up suspension, larger wheels and a supercharged V-8. Named after the famous British racing circuit, the Silverstone edition was created to honor the marque’s F1 racing heritage. The Silverstone edition added Brembo brakes, a selection of chassis reinforcements and massive 20-inch wheels. Only 100 of these cars where produced. All came decked-out in striking PlatinumSIL along with contrast-piped black leather upholstery. While the XKR’s sizable chassis made it too big and heavy to be a proper sports car, the 370 horsepower put out by its eight-cylinder engine made it fast enough.

MCLAREN F1

MCLAREN F1

Arguably, no road car is more commonly linked to Formula 1 than the legendary –and appropriately named –McLaren F1. Unleashed back in 1992, the F1 was an immediate sensation. Faster, more expensive and more high-tech than anything that came from the company before, the car set the standard for uncompromising, wildly expensive performance machines. Contemporary “hyper cars” — such as the Ferrari LaFerrari, Koenigsegg Agera and Bugatti Veyron — all follow the mold established by McLaren F1. Nearly every significant aspect of the car – from its carbon-fiber monocoque chassis to its 6.1-liter V-12 engine to its unique center-mounted seating position – was directly developed from the British company’s F1 racing program.

AUDI A3

Starting price: $29,900
The Audi A3 underwent a significant redesign for the 2015 model year, and it is one of the top German cars sold in America. Consumers can choose between a couple, four-door sedan, and a convertible when buying the A3, and its entry price of just below $30,000 USD is hard to match when looking for a quality German car to drive on the U.S. roadways. The stock engine for the car is a 1.8 liter turbo four cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Audi does not offer a manual transmission with the car; however, consumers can choose to upgrade the powertrain to a four cylinder rated at 220 horsepower with all-wheel drive or a diesel engine rated at 150 horsepower. The A3 can go from zero to 60 MPH in 5.4 seconds, and its top overall speed is 129 MPH. The fuel efficiency of the vehicle is above average with a 24 MPG (city) and 33 MPG (highway) rating.
